Ten things to know before you book
1. Which licence you need
UAE residents drive on a UAE licence with an Emirates ID. GCC, UK, US, EU, Canadian, Australian and Japanese licences are accepted with a passport and entry stamp.
2. When an IDP is required
Only if your licence is not on the exempt list — Indian and most other non-exempt licences are accepted alongside an International Driving Permit.
3. The deposit
No cash deposit is ever taken. A refundable pre-authorisation is held on your card and released in full within 21 days of return, subject to no outstanding fines, Salik or damage.
4. Salik tolls
AED 4 per gate, billed at cost with no administration mark-up, and settled at the end of the rental.
5. Traffic fines
Passed on at the government amount with nothing added. We tell you which fine and when.
6. Mileage
250 km a day on daily and weekly rentals; unlimited on monthly contracts.
7. Insurance and the excess
Comprehensive insurance across all seven emirates is included. Optional CDW at 25% of the rental removes the excess. Off-road use is excluded by the terms.
8. Fuel
The car is handed over and returned at the same fuel level. There is no fuel service charge.
9. Delivery
Free anywhere in mainland Dubai, up to 80 km, including all DXB terminals, hotels, homes and offices. Collection at the end is free on the same basis.
10. Cancellation and minimum
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the agreed delivery time. The minimum rental is 2 days. All prices exclude 5% UAE VAT.
