Car Rental at Dubai Airport (DXB) — Terminal 1, 2 & 3 Pickup

Quick handovers happen at the arrivals kerb; if you want a longer walk round the car, it is done in the terminal's short-stay car park instead. Terminals 1 and 3 share one building, while Terminal 2 is on the other side of the runway — which is why the terminal matters as much as the flight number.

Yes: handovers at DXB run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and a 3 AM landing is handled exactly like a midday one.

The flight is tracked rather than the booked time, so an early or late landing moves the handover with it and the waiting costs you nothing. Night arrivals are also the quickest drive out: Airport Road and Al Garhoud are busiest from 7 to 9 AM and 5 to 8 PM, and at 3 AM a Marina hotel is about 25 minutes away.

From AED 100 a day, AED 650 a week or AED 1,700 a month + 5% VAT, and the DXB handover itself costs AED 0; the minimum rental is 2 days.

The airport does not change the price: the rates are the same as for delivery to a hotel, because the car comes to arrivals rather than sitting at a desk in the terminal.

Tell us your departure flight and we meet you at the terminal kerb or the short-stay car park, check the car in about 2 minutes and you walk into check-in — returning at DXB costs AED 0.

Bring the fuel back to the level it was at handover. The card pre-authorisation is released in full within 21 days of return, less any Salik (AED 4–6 per gate + 5% VAT + AED 1 admin per crossing (+5% VAT)) or traffic fines (at cost plus AED 50 per fine) that arrive after you leave. If you would rather hand the car back at your hotel the day before a flight, collection is free anywhere in mainland Dubai.

Visitors need a passport with the entry stamp or visa, their home licence — plus an International Driving Permit unless it is from a GCC country or one of the 25 on the UAE's accepted list — and a credit card in their own name.

Residents bring an Emirates ID and a UAE driving licence. The minimum age is 21 for standard cars; a licence held for under 6 months carries a 25% surcharge and full insurance. Send photos on WhatsApp before you fly and the contract is ready when you land. Full list: documents to rent a car.

Salik is charged at AED 4 off-peak or AED 6 peak per gate, plus 5% VAT (AED 4.20 / AED 6.30), plus AED 1 admin per crossing (+5% VAT), and whether you pass a gate depends on the route: the Airport Tunnel towards Deira has one gate, while Al Khail Road towards Downtown and Business Bay has none.

Heading to Dubai Marina, Sheikh Zayed Road usually means two gates; Al Khail Road avoids them. How tolls are billed on a rental is explained on the Salik page.
