Car Hire Dubai

Car Hire in Dubai

Pindi Boys Car Rental hires cars in Dubai from AED 100 a day, AED 650 a week and AED 1,700 a month, plus 5% VAT. British visitors drive on their own licence — no International Driving Permit needed — and the car is delivered free to DXB arrivals or your hotel. Dubai Trade Licence 969076.

Driving in Dubai on a UK Licence

The United Kingdom is on the UAE's published list of accepted driving licences, so a full UK photocard is enough on its own to hire and drive here. You do not need an International Driving Permit. What you bring is your passport, your entry stamp or visa, the licence itself and a credit card in the driver's name.

The minimum age is 21 on standard cars and 25 on luxury and sports models. Driving is on the right. Rules are published by the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism and the RTA, and we last checked them on 2026-09-14.

Car Hire at Dubai Airport — No Surcharge

Most British visitors land at DXB. We meet you in the arrivals hall at Terminal 1, 2 or 3 with the contract already signed digitally, so there is no desk and no queue, and there is no premium location fee of the kind an in-terminal counter charges. Send your flight number on WhatsApp and we track the landing — if the flight is late, the waiting is free.

If you would rather settle in first, delivery to your hotel anywhere in Dubai is free and usually same-day, and so is collection when you leave.

FAQ

Car Hire Dubai — Questions

Can I hire a car in Dubai on my UK driving licence?+
Yes. The United Kingdom is on the UAE's published list of accepted licences, so a full UK photocard licence is enough on its own — you do not need an International Driving Permit. Bring the licence itself, your passport and your entry stamp or visa, and a credit card in the driver's name.
How much is car hire in Dubai per day?+
From AED 100 a day, AED 650 a week and AED 1,700 a month, plus 5% VAT. That is roughly £20 a day at the time of writing — the dirham is pegged to the US dollar, so the rate moves only with the pound. Comprehensive insurance and 250 km a day are inside the price.
Is there car hire at Dubai Airport?+
Yes, and there is no airport surcharge. We meet you in the arrivals hall at DXB Terminal 1, 2 or 3 with the paperwork already done, or deliver to your hotel the same day. Send the flight number on WhatsApp and we track the landing, so a delayed flight costs you nothing in waiting time.
Do I need to leave a deposit?+
No cash deposit. A refundable pre-authorisation is held on your credit card and released within 21 days of return, provided there are no fines or damage. On exotic cars the hold is AED 5,000 – 15,000.
What is the minimum age to hire a car in Dubai?+
21 for standard cars and 25 for luxury and sports models. The card used for the pre-authorisation has to be in the driver's own name.
What are Salik tolls and will I be charged for them?+
Salik is Dubai's automatic road toll — there are no booths, a gantry reads the tag as you pass. We pass it on at cost: AED 4 off-peak and AED 6 at peak per gate, plus AED 1 admin per crossing, everything plus 5% VAT — AED 5.25 and AED 7.35 per crossing, all in.
What happens if I get a speeding fine?+
It is passed on at the amount charged plus AED 50 admin per fine plus 5% VAT (AED 52.50). UAE fines reach us from Dubai Police after the hire has ended, so they are billed when they land and you get the fine number to check yourself.
Is cheap car hire in Dubai any good?+
The cheapest cars here are AED 100 a day and they are ordinary modern hatchbacks and saloons, not tired stock — an MG 3 or a Suzuki Dzire. The saving in Dubai does not come from a worse car, it comes from not renting at an airport desk.
Can I hire a 7 seater in Dubai?+
Yes. Seven-seaters start at AED 150 a day — the Toyota Rush and Mitsubishi Xpander — with larger options up to the Toyota Hiace for bigger groups. Child seats are AED 15 a day.
Do I drive on the left or the right in Dubai?+
On the right, which is the main adjustment for a British driver. Roads are wide, well signposted in English and Arabic, and speed limits are camera-enforced to the kilometre — the tolerance most people assume from the UK does not exist here.
