• Tourist on a visit visa: ✅ Yes, you can drive and rent — if you carry your valid home licence plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) issued in your home country.
• UAE resident (visa stamped): ❌ No. Your foreign licence and IDP are no longer valid for you. You must get a UAE driving licence.

Getting the IDP — do it BEFORE you fly
