Renting a car is the best way to see Dubai and the wider UAE on your own schedule. If it is your first time, the process is quick and friendly — but a short checklist makes it effortless. Here is everything a visitor needs, start to finish.
1. The documents you need
- Passport and a copy of your UAE entry visa or stamp.
- Your home-country driving licence, plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) for most nationalities. Some countries (GCC, many European and others) are exempt — message us and we will confirm for your nationality.
- A credit or debit card in the main driver's name for the deposit.
2. Minimum age and experience
The standard minimum age for economy and mid-range cars is 21 (older for premium and luxury vehicles), and you should have held your licence for at least a year. Bring the physical licence, not just a photo.
3. Understand the deposit
A refundable security deposit is held on your card during the rental and released afterward, subject to no fines or damage. The amount varies by car category. Always ask how it is held and how quickly it is returned — we keep this transparent.
4. Check the insurance
Comprehensive insurance is included with our cars. Ask about the excess (your liability in an incident) and whether it can be reduced. Make sure you know what to do and who to call if anything happens on the road.
5. The 2-minute handover inspection
Before you drive away, do a quick walk-around with our team:
- Photograph the exterior from all sides and note any existing marks.
- Check the fuel level and the return policy (we hand over full, return full).
- Confirm the Salik tag is fitted (ours always are) and the spare/tools are present.
- Test the air-conditioning — essential in Dubai.
- Save our WhatsApp number in your phone before you leave.
6. Know the basics of driving here
Drive on the right, distances are in kilometres, fuel is inexpensive, and tolls (Salik) are automatic. Speed limits are camera-enforced with little tolerance, and there is zero tolerance for drink-driving. For a fuller rundown, read our guide to Salik, speed and fines.
7. Pick the right car for your trip
City breaks and couples do well in an economy car or compact SUV; families and groups should look at a 7-seater; and if you are here to make an impression, our luxury range delivers. Browse the full fleet to compare.
8. Book in minutes
The easiest way is WhatsApp. Send us your dates, the car you want and where you are staying; we confirm availability, agree the price, and deliver the car to your hotel or the airport — often the same day. No queues, no paperwork stress.
That is the whole checklist. Tick these boxes and your first Dubai rental will be smooth from pickup to drop-off. Message us whenever you are ready and we will take care of the details.
